IPMS - Acadiana is the
local chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society located
in Lafayette, LA. and serving the surrounding areas. We
are one of four IPMS chapters located in Louisiana at this
time. We meet once a month to discuss modeling issues, have
how-to demonstrations, show off our newest creations and seek help
on making the latest build as best as it can be. Our club
consists of about 20 or so active members.
We are very
involved in local and regional contests and several
members have taken builds to the IPMS - Nationals. Our
members build the complete spectrum of available genres to include
past and modern armor, warships, aircraft (military and civilian),
show cars, sci-fi, figures and just about whatever else catches our eye.
In addition to good advice
and helpful insights we also plan occasional road trips to area
locations in which we have interest. Good friends and
good builders permeate the group and our meetings are laid back and
fun. Along with model building, don't be surprised to hear
discussions on history, movies, upcoming contests, current events
and doughnuts. Military movies and television shows are
common as well.
Our most "famous" member is
Steve Boutte. Steve has won numerous local and regional
contests and has had his custom cars portrayeed in several nation
magazines, the latest being in Scale Auto World along with a build
write-up of the vehicle. Some of Steve's cars can be seen in
the "Submissions" page.
